Shifting doesn’t happen all at once. It’s an ongoing process. The changes are mostly gradual and easy to overlook until one day you have an epiphany that you really are not the same person you used to be.
Change is going to happen whether you want it to or not. Who wants to remain the same forever? If you aren’t growning and learning, what are you doing?
Be intentional with your personal changes. Choose your focus. Decide how you want to be different and make the same choice again and again until it’s a habit. Choose what’s most important to you because it’s easy to just go with what’s simple or urgent when you’re tired or overwhelmed.
But when you’ve made your decision ahead of time and thought about what you’ll do when it’s difficult, you’re half way to sticking with your choice. Remember that change isn’t always about DOING something. It can be about NOT DOING something – not reacting, not arguing, not obsessing, not wasting your time on things that you can’t change.
2020 is a year for foundation building. Spend some time thinking about how you want to be and how that will change the world. How can you shine your light? What can you do to spread joy, uplift the voices of the silenced, lead by example, share fierce love?
Choose and take baby steps. Before you know it, you’ll be the you that you imagined.
