Following the release of the video of the shooting death of Ahmaud Arbery and now the shooting death of Breanna Taylor, the public is screaming for justice and asking how Black people keep being slaughtered with no consequences. It happens because that's the way America was created and the nation refuses to do the work to heal its original sin. Chattel slavery, the unique American style slavery, was created to boost an economy and retain power. Brainwashing developed in the 1600s still controls our behavior generations later. The institution runs on its own. So it's up to those of us who see the system for what it is to teach others how to see it and how to stop it.
Inaction concedes power to the racists who benefit and condemns innocents to harm just because of the color of our skin. You don't have to be a superhero activist to disrupt institutional racism. You just have to arm yourself with facts and have the faith of a mustard seed that each choice you make to be anti racist will have a ripple effect on everyone around you. Millions of us taking small actions that have huge impact is how we tear down systemic racism. It's how we break the patriarchy. It's how we bring equity to all marginalized groups. Join me to speak specifically about racism and what you can do to possibly save a life.
